Job Title: MULTI PURPOSE VEHICLE MECHANIC
Reports to : MVMS
Location: OSS, Kandahar Airfield.
Working Conditions: Based in an operational theatre of war, with arduous conditions.
$6,000 a month 8 weeks on 4 weeks off.
2. Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential:
- The MVM shall have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in functions such as inspecting, repairing, or maintaining general purpose vehicles light and heavy duty construction equipment. The MVM shall determine the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment, correction of deficiencies required, and effects repair.
- Must have experience in functions such as inspecting, repairing, or maintaining general purpose vehicles light and heavy duty construction equipment.
- The MVM must be able to acquire and maintain flight line driving and Restricted Area Badge (RAB)
- All Contractor personnel are required to have a full understanding and comply with AFI 91-203, Air Force Consolidated Occupational Safety Instructions and KAF HAZMAT policy.
- Must adhere to AFI 23-302 Vehicle Management.
- Must comply with all AFI’s regarding vehicle maintenance and a working knowledge of AFI 36-1-191 Air Force Technical and Managerial reference for motor vehicle maintenance.
- All contractor personnel shall be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English to the extent necessary to successfully complete their assigned tasks
Preferred:
- Working AF Vehicle maintenance programs, preferably with the AFSC 2T351.
- Managing a workshop of up to 15 employees
- Working knowledge NEI ICOPARS ordering systems
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Experience of working on operations in austere remote sites or in developing nations.
- Working with diverse international employees and mechanics
3. Core Responsibilities and Duties
MVM:
- The MVM shall systematically analyze malfunctions by visual and auditory examination or through the use of test equipment. The MVM shall be capable of using diagnostic test equipment, and of accurately diagnosing and repairing assigned electronic controlled equipment.
- The MVM shall repair, adjust, overhaul, or replace major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering assemblies, tracks, hydraulic system components and equipment attachments.
- The MVM may be required to remove, disassemble, and repair gasoline or diesel engines and components.
- The MVM shall repair components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts, grinding, fitting, balancing, or arranging for welding or machining.
- The MVM shall reassemble, adjust and test repaired units for proper operation.
- The MVM Shall use technical publications in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers maintenance schedules. Shall ensure maintenance on vehicles is performed correctly such as; corrosion control, winterization, storage and shipment.
- Assist in research of parts for identification/Part number of assemblies, next higher assemblies for vehicles requiring parts replacement.
- The MVM shall properly annotate all maintenance performed on prescribed forms for data collection.
- The MVM shall determine the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment, correction of deficiencies required, and effects repair. Shall systematically analyze malfunctions by visual and auditory examination or through the use of test equipment.
- Instruct diverse work force in daily work requirements and safe work practices, for USAF vehicles. Ensure proper use of PPE required for task is available and in good order.
- Coordinate daily with NATO EVM floor supervisor to agree on maintenance flow of vehicles.
- Ensure general housekeeping in all EVM shops.
- Security of tools and equipment to include gate entry at FLS tent.
- Ensuring USAF and OSS policies are adhered to in the management of the vehicle fleet.
- Ensuring work practices adhere to USAF and OSS Work Instructions.
- Identifying solutions that reduce company vehicle and project vehicle costs
- Ensuring work practices adhere to USAF and OSS Work Instructions.
