Job objectives and responsibilities
- To manage the residential function within the Centre, ensuring a safe, secure and decent environment is provided in line with all legislation, company policies and procedures and all contractual and relevant Home Office standards.
- Provide advice, coaching and support to staff in order to maximise the efficient and effective operation of the residential function.
Main duties and accountabilities
- Lead the provision of a secure, safe and effective residential environment for detainees to ensure that their human rights are valued and all relevant standards are adhered to.
- Develop, review and manage the implementation of an effective Incentives and Privileges scheme for detainees ensuring it is fairly and consistently applied.
- Establish and manage an effective induction process for detainees to support the effective residential environment.
- Develop, review and manage the implementation of the detainee complaints procedure to ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Coach and support staff development to maximise staff performance, motivation and contribution.
- Manage and monitor staff to ensure an effective residential service is delivered in line with contractual obligations and company standards.
- Establish effective communications ensuring that relevant information is processed and disseminated both accurately and to deadline.
- Manage and control relevant budget so that a cost effective service is delivered within set financial parameters.
- Implement and monitor an effective ACDT system to minimise suicides and bullying within the Centre.
- Assist in promoting Health & Safety across the Centre to ensure it is embedded within the residential units and its’ requirements are met across the Centre.

Relevant managerial experience within a custodial environment is required.
